Continuing my book "Tyra Banks." Later in the story as she matured, she began to notice a part of her life. She began to see that what may have been important to her in grade school, as in being popular. Tyra was no longer popular anymore. Tyra was beginning to see that there was more to life than to be part of a "Crowd." In the text it says, " I want power. The power to make change. I have never been interested in being "hot" or "cool." Im not interested in walking down a bunch of red carpets, dating someone famous, being in a big movie. I've done those things , and never felt right. During 1989 -1990, Tyra was 15 and 16 years old in high school. Her mother helped her put together her first portfolio of photographs. After that, that's when she started going around looking for modeling agencies. All though Tyra was turned down over, and over, and over, and over again. Even though the agencies loved Tyra Banks looks. Finally a well known agency did accept Tyra. Every since she started modeling to going on to big television screens.
So far this book is basically just saying that even though you get let down multiple times you have to try over and over again until something goes your way. That's why they say "Practice makes perfect." I know this because in the biography book of Tyra Banks it stats that, "A disappointing pattern quickly developed; Agencies turned Tyra down- again and again.""Finally, a well-known agency did accept Tyra-the prestigious Elite Model Management would represent her." This shows that Tyra was willing to wait on a call in-order to follow her dreams. In the book it says, " My first modeling job was for a magazine called "Black Collegiate", I was so excited because there was little picture of me on the cover, above the tittle."
