5th Blog End Of "The Devils Arithmetic"

The summary of the whole book is about a girl named Hannah Stern and the girl Hannah has to go to the concentration camp and she doesn't really know why she is there. But the other people in the ceil's doesn't know that she is not a Jew. All while this is going on she starts to remember how her grandfather was a Jew and how he had the tattoos and the numbers. The number was J18202.  Rivka one of the characters explained to hannah "J because I am -like you -a Jew. The 1 is for me because I am alone. The 8 is for my family because there were eight of us when we lived in our village. And the 2 because that is all that are left now, me and Wolfe, who believes himself to be a 0. But I love him no matter what he forced me to do. And when we are free and this is over, we will be 2 again. God will allow it." This is connected to the story because Hannah was really confused what was going so Rivka summarized to her what was going on. Something like I'm telling you.

The genre of this book is historical fiction because this is about the Nazis and the Jews. On how they hated each other because of Adolf Hitler. He hated his own people. Hitler said that" all Germany's problem has been caused by the Jews". Many people believed him. What I like about this is that Hannah found out what was going on because at first she was walking about like a lost puppy. The most exciting part about the book and the most sad part about the book is that in chapter 6 when ask Esther which is another character in the book, and Hannah said that "how can their be a New Rochelle if there never was an Old Rochelle" It was funny because thats a trick question Esther was acting like confused. Also it was kind of funny because without her knowing she confused her she confused her. I would like to read it again or even another book because I was thinking like why didn't Hannah die but everybody else died that wasn't fair. But they say god has a funny way of doing things.

Blog 4! "The Devils Arithmetic"

Now that I'm in the middle of my book the book is kind of getting good but at the same time it is getting get sad because the girl Hannah had to give up her ribbon's to another because the other prisoner made her give up her own belongings. Also while they were in the concentration camp Hannah and others in the jail had to take off their clothes because they had no showers to wash up so they had to change in front of everybody while everyone is watching you. It didn't matter if you didn't want to do it, it was mandatory to do. One of my groups connection is very sad because she was forced to do something by her own parents. To me the concentration should only be for the folks you don't follow the rules not for people who you are innocent. The things they used to do to the children is just child abuse.

A sign post that I'm going to use is "Memory Moment". In the book every time the character Hannah always gets the memory moment when she hears about the Jews and the tattoos it always remind her about her grandpa. Because that's what he was, even though thats what the ceil mates think she is but she isn't a Jew. So she doesn't get it like why am I here if I'm not apart of them. She gets to live the life of the Jews and also has to be punish for something thats not in her hands.

Remake of Blog 2/ Lit Circle Book

This book I am reading is called "The Devil's Arithmetic", and the book is about a girl named Hannah Dreads. In this story Hannah is going to her family's Passover Seder. A Passover Seder is a Jewish Ritual Feast. And some of the people like telling the same stories every time they meet. But when she opened the front door to welcome the Prophet Elijah.she got  transported back to a polish village. In the book you can name her as a confused character because in the book she acts confused. Also as the story goes on she begins reading stories to the little kids she tells story after story. She kind of felt popular for that moment. The Books were "Yentl, Conan, The Barbarian with equal vigor, Star wars."

Me as a reader I think it is a confusing book because at times you don't what the grandpa is saying because he is speaking Yidish. To me I don't like how they have to put the concentration camps to the little kids because its not fair to them that they have to live the life that their parents live. If I was in their position I break down everyday. No kids should go through that any day. It feels like they are being torchured everyday just for being a human.

The genre of this story it is historical fiction. What I like about this book is that Hannah sterns family is still connected. What I mean is that her family stays in touch with each other families fall apart. The thing about this book that I don't like about this book is that they don't care who they put in the concentration camp they throw in little kids and even probably babies at the age of 1 or even 3. I have read this genre before in classes of Social Studies. Other things that I dislike about this book was little kids not that younger than me were dying. It was this one character named Esther and Hannah treated her it was funny because she tried to lie to hannah because she thought she could get away with it.

Holocaust Book

After reading about the bystanders and as the up standers, I believe  that many people stood by and watch the Holocaust take place because they were scared for their lives they  thought if they said something they would die but if they didn’t say anything it would still effect them because they were just watching the situation happen. To me I think what inspired others to stand up and or resist the Nazis, well first I think what inspired others to stand up because they saw something wrong so they thought that either way they were going to be in danger so they took a risk. On the other hand I think what inspired others to resist the Nazis because they thought maybe that if they stood up they were going to put their life in a dangerous place. In this situation I would have been a Up stander because I would take the risk to save my life. So in the stories we have been reading and one of them caught my in so many words the story was saying that some people want to take a risk to save their life because either way it goes they are going to die.

Shattered Book Summary

A little summary of my book is about when the main character "Darcy". Her grandmother had just died over the summer and at the same time she had just broken up with her boyfriend "Hakeem". In the mean time as they have broken up things have gotten bad Darcy's house every since her grandmother had died. Now with her mom "Mattie" having another baby on the way, she has to break her back to put a roof over their head Darcy and her sister Jamie. Because their mother doesn't want their father to work any night shifts because she's afraid that he's going to leave their family again like he did 5 years ago. Yet their father "Carol" tells them he wants to change and he will never leave them again. Darcy, Jamie, Mattie don't really know if they can trust him. As that situation is happening she has to start school again and before Darcy, Jamie had started school Darcy went to their old pizza place where they go every day after school. To catch up with old friends. She sees Hakeem but when she sees him from the last time they saw each other.

Some interesting parts of this book is that when Darcy thought that her best friend/ sister had lied to her about her "Ex" boyfriend. Because Tarah which is her Best friend was just trying to stay out of the situation between Darcy and Hakeem. On the other hand Darcy had something she wanted to tell Hakeem so that her nightmare can be over with. Hakeem had something he needed to tell Darcy as well. So basically they both were trying to hold back the truth. In the mean time Tarah and Cooper (Tarah's boyfriend and Hakeem's Best friend), were only trying to help Darcy and Hakeem get back together. Also when Hakeem had found put what happened to Darcy we literaly tried to kill the boy (Brian) that did it.

Don't Buy Nike

The argument in this article is that the workers aren't getting treated fairly they don't get paid enough money to buy anything. In the article it says that the workers "make only 1.25. In order to buy anything they have to starve to make money" They have to live in an 8 by 8 house which is not really big. I think the workers need to get paid more money because the nike stores make to much money for the workers to only get paid $1.25. I wouldn't even pay a worker that if they work their behinds off every week. If i was their boss they would make $10 a hour . I learned that workers in Indonesia get paid minimum wage is only 1.25 for Indonesia but the workers in Illinois get paid less than minimum was. Minimum used to be $10. Now it's only $8.50 for minimum wage. I think that's why parent's aren't making that much
money.

         Sweatshop

The argument in the poem is that when you work and work all day you're going to get tired because your doing the same thing every day. In the poem it says that " I work and work and work endlessly".  When I was reading the poem I thought it was different from the article I read because in the article to me it was mostly talking about how people only get paid $1.25. But in the poem it is mostly talking about how workers are always tired and they feel like machines because they get worked so hard. This form affected the understanding of the poem by the narrator kept on saying that he/or she was always tired in the poem it states that " The clock in the shop never rest". That meaning to me means that they never get a day off.

Independent Summaries

                                                                          TTYL

I like this book it is something that I would recommend for other students that like's drama books as well. But this book isn't necessarily for boys because i don't think they like gossip they might think the book is fruity. Scope Blog

Is it time for cursive to die?

I think that cursive shouldn't disappear because it's a good way to show how you can right two different ways. I think since they use cursive in the olden days we should still be able to use it to. Every since we went to springfield I wanted to start back writing cursive myself. The theme of this story should probably be " You shouldn't let cursive stop you from writing essay's or any homework." I don't understand why they let the teachers make us stop using cursive. If that' s the case we shouldn't have learned it in 3rd grade. My connection to the story is that when I was in 4th and 5th grade we were still using cursive and then all of a sudden in 6th grade cursive didn't exist anymore.

2 summary entry

I started to read search for safety of an Bluford High Series but then it got boring. So I started to read "TTYL" By Lauren Myracle. This book is good it's mostly talking about like girl gossip and their daily life in high school. Then life suddenly jumps the tracks. There is a jerky boy that send  peppy Angela into the dumps. Tough Maddie makes a mistake that has the whole school talking. And good girl Zoe ends up over her head with a flirty teacher. Just when they need their friendship it seems to fall apart.

The Point of view of my book is Third Person Omniscient. I know this because Mostly in this book they are texting each other about their friendship and life story. In this book it's mostly thoughts about the character. I enjoy reading this book because the characters talk about drama. I like drama books but I don't start drama.

Treasure- Lemon Brown

My reaction to the book Lemon Brown was it was awesome story the part I really liked was the ending when Greg said that when lemon brown was talking about how "the thought of his father’s lectures make him smile" I felt like that was a great bond with his father for him to say that. This connects to what we have been learning about because in the story it says that Lemon brown was sleeping in a chair but yet. He had a box full of his treasure. Also their were boys that were trying to take his treasure and the said that it was in an abandon house. What I found interesting is that if Brown had a whole a treasure why did he live in a abandon building. Throughout the story greg changed a lot from hating how his father talked to having great memories about his father.

New summary/ Character Analze

My book "Shattered" of the Bluford series is about a girl named Darcy who's parents had lots of arguments in their household. Darcy and her sister Jamie hate to see their mother and father because her mother is pregnant and since her father came back last fall from running out on them it has been nothing but arguing and throwing pictures.Jamie and Darcy think that their mother should slow her hours down, like do a couple hours a day because she is pregnant. But since their father hadn't found a job yet she's been frustrated that she has to do it on her own. Their father walks out on them again but this time they don't know if he is coming back or gone for good....

The main character of my book is Darcy. She basically has to deal with her grandma just dying. She wishes that her grandma wouldn't have left her because if her grandma was there then she wouldn't have to put up with her mom and dad arguing all the time. If her grandma was there she'll know what to do. Darcy is having a mental breakdown. A painful secret is ruining her closest friendships at Bluford, and an even deeper lie is tearing her family apart. She doesn't know if she'll lose everything including the people she loves. Darcy's whole life will be shattered before her eyes unless she can spill the truth about her past. What she discovers will change her world forever.

First Summary

Bluford series of "Blood Is Thicker"

The book called Blood Is Thicker is about how a boy named Hakeem discovers that his father's cancer came back and he has to go and live back with his aunt and uncle. They had to fly all the way from Detroit to California. When they got there Hakeem remembered his cousin Savon, but what he remembered was a little chubby little boy.  Now that they grew up Hakeem saw somebody else who was skinny and had abs etc. Before they left he and his girlfriend Darcy broke up. He was kind of sad leaving her even though they broke up. He knew he was going to miss his house and everything he had in Detroit. Since Hakeem's father his sick with kemo cancer his dad asked him to work with his uncle so they can at least do something because they're letting them stay there. Also now that their staying there his cousin savon can't stand Hakeem because all Savon parents talk is How much Hakeem does at home, how much Hakeem does this and that. He was sick of it. So he wanted to treat so bad.
