5th Blog End Of "The Devils Arithmetic"

The summary of the whole book is about a girl named Hannah Stern and the girl Hannah has to go to the concentration camp and she doesn't really know why she is there. But the other people in the ceil's doesn't know that she is not a Jew. All while this is going on she starts to remember how her grandfather was a Jew and how he had the tattoos and the numbers. The number was J18202.  Rivka one of the characters explained to hannah "J because I am -like you -a Jew. The 1 is for me because I am alone. The 8 is for my family because there were eight of us when we lived in our village. And the 2 because that is all that are left now, me and Wolfe, who believes himself to be a 0. But I love him no matter what he forced me to do. And when we are free and this is over, we will be 2 again. God will allow it." This is connected to the story because Hannah was really confused what was going so Rivka summarized to her what was going on. Something like I'm telling you.

The genre of this book is historical fiction because this is about the Nazis and the Jews. On how they hated each other because of Adolf Hitler. He hated his own people. Hitler said that" all Germany's problem has been caused by the Jews". Many people believed him. What I like about this is that Hannah found out what was going on because at first she was walking about like a lost puppy. The most exciting part about the book and the most sad part about the book is that in chapter 6 when ask Esther which is another character in the book, and Hannah said that "how can their be a New Rochelle if there never was an Old Rochelle" It was funny because thats a trick question Esther was acting like confused. Also it was kind of funny because without her knowing she confused her she confused her. I would like to read it again or even another book because I was thinking like why didn't Hannah die but everybody else died that wasn't fair. But they say god has a funny way of doing things.

Blog 4! "The Devils Arithmetic"

Now that I'm in the middle of my book the book is kind of getting good but at the same time it is getting get sad because the girl Hannah had to give up her ribbon's to another because the other prisoner made her give up her own belongings. Also while they were in the concentration camp Hannah and others in the jail had to take off their clothes because they had no showers to wash up so they had to change in front of everybody while everyone is watching you. It didn't matter if you didn't want to do it, it was mandatory to do. One of my groups connection is very sad because she was forced to do something by her own parents. To me the concentration should only be for the folks you don't follow the rules not for people who you are innocent. The things they used to do to the children is just child abuse.

A sign post that I'm going to use is "Memory Moment". In the book every time the character Hannah always gets the memory moment when she hears about the Jews and the tattoos it always remind her about her grandpa. Because that's what he was, even though thats what the ceil mates think she is but she isn't a Jew. So she doesn't get it like why am I here if I'm not apart of them. She gets to live the life of the Jews and also has to be punish for something thats not in her hands.

Remake of Blog 2/ Lit Circle Book

This book I am reading is called "The Devil's Arithmetic", and the book is about a girl named Hannah Dreads. In this story Hannah is going to her family's Passover Seder. A Passover Seder is a Jewish Ritual Feast. And some of the people like telling the same stories every time they meet. But when she opened the front door to welcome the Prophet Elijah.she got  transported back to a polish village. In the book you can name her as a confused character because in the book she acts confused. Also as the story goes on she begins reading stories to the little kids she tells story after story. She kind of felt popular for that moment. The Books were "Yentl, Conan, The Barbarian with equal vigor, Star wars."

Me as a reader I think it is a confusing book because at times you don't what the grandpa is saying because he is speaking Yidish. To me I don't like how they have to put the concentration camps to the little kids because its not fair to them that they have to live the life that their parents live. If I was in their position I break down everyday. No kids should go through that any day. It feels like they are being torchured everyday just for being a human.

The genre of this story it is historical fiction. What I like about this book is that Hannah sterns family is still connected. What I mean is that her family stays in touch with each other families fall apart. The thing about this book that I don't like about this book is that they don't care who they put in the concentration camp they throw in little kids and even probably babies at the age of 1 or even 3. I have read this genre before in classes of Social Studies. Other things that I dislike about this book was little kids not that younger than me were dying. It was this one character named Esther and Hannah treated her it was funny because she tried to lie to hannah because she thought she could get away with it.

Holocaust Book

After reading about the bystanders and as the up standers, I believe  that many people stood by and watch the Holocaust take place because they were scared for their lives they  thought if they said something they would die but if they didn’t say anything it would still effect them because they were just watching the situation happen. To me I think what inspired others to stand up and or resist the Nazis, well first I think what inspired others to stand up because they saw something wrong so they thought that either way they were going to be in danger so they took a risk. On the other hand I think what inspired others to resist the Nazis because they thought maybe that if they stood up they were going to put their life in a dangerous place. In this situation I would have been a Up stander because I would take the risk to save my life. So in the stories we have been reading and one of them caught my in so many words the story was saying that some people want to take a risk to save their life because either way it goes they are going to die.
