Quater 4 Lost Found Blog 8!

At the end of the book as Darcy never took a day off without looking for her sister she kind of got a hint of what her sick grandma was saying. Her grandmother would say, "Did Jamee tell you about the nice time we had up on the mountains?" this question isn't really a question since Darcy's grandmother is sick she paid no attention to what she was saying Darcy thought she probably had a dream about it or something. But Darcy didn't know her grandmother was telling her thats where Darcy is. So after Darcy helped her grandma to the bathroom and back in bed she called her friend Tarah and told her, " Come to my house and watch grandma for me and tell Cooper to drive to the mountains." So she did just that and Darcy said the same to her father. Who would have thought Jamee might up in the mountains with just a T-shirt on and jeans. But trust me it was possible.

My reflection on this book is that you will learn your lesson if had put your feet in the characters shoes. So basically what I mean is when Darcy's little sister Jamee Ran away. As soon as they found her they took her into the small ER and Jamee told Darcy, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to disappoint you." This proves that she only ran away because she was just going up to the mountains because thats where she only felt safe at. Just like in grandmas dream she said the same thing but Darcy thought that since her grandmother was ill she probably just had a dream but the dream was really true. Since I've been reading all of the other Bluford Series I finally read the first one. and I actually think that now that I know what happens in the other books I'll read them again because I've already read the first. So it was kind of shocking to see that "Lost and Found" was the first book of the series.

Quater 4 post 7 Lost and Found

In the middle of this book as Darcy started her first week at Bluford High she met new friends as if she was lonely when she started school she then met her Bestfriends Tarah and Cooper. She realize she might have the best time of her life at this school because it isn't that bad just like she said, "you're riding with him." This means that Darcy's friend Brisanna doesn't like Darcy hanging out with the other kids because they are losers and thats how Brisanna and Darcy Stop being friends because of her new friends. Later on after this siutation Darcy's sister had told her mom that she was going to her friends house for a night when it turned out that she was running away. Darcy had said, " I rushed to Jamee's room. I was Locked so I found a spare key to unlock it. The room lookced the same, nothing unusual. BUt when Darcy checked the closet she found all Jamee's favorite clothing gone the T-shirts, jeans even her Cd's. Jamee had left nice dresses mom had bought her years ago." This proves that there is evidence that her sister could have ran away and darcy tried calling Jamee's friends mom house so see if she was there and her mom said, " I haven't saw your sister in 2 weeks."  Could this be real??

The conflict of this book is that Darcy sister has ran away and now she's tried everywhere to find her but she was yet to be found. Then when Tarah and Cooper was dropping off Darcy and Hakeem off to Darcy's, Darcy saw her father she was kind of dissapointed to see him because its kind of like his fault that Jamee's gone. The whole time Hakeem stood by her side he told Darcy, "Don't think that way we are going to find your sister." This proves that Hakeem was trying to show Darcy that he was here for her and that he wants to make her feel better. He even stayed by her side even when Darcy's father and Darcy were going somewhere to talk he was there. He even said, " You want me to wait outside? maybe there's something private you want to say to your father." He's a true friend. So again the main conflict of this book is Man vs Person. Because Darcy and their family where sad and depressed about their dad leaving them for 5 years and now he's trying to make it up but you can't make up five years with in one day.

Quater 4 Blog 6 Lost And Found

In the beginning of this book called "Lost and Found" theres a girl named Darcy and her grandmother just had a stroke so Darcy tries her best to help her out with anything she need. Darcy little sister Jamie is in the stage of having attitude like all teenagers have. But in the beginning as I was reading she seemed pretty mean to her own grandma. Because when Darcy was talking to their grandma Jamie said, "Its not like she can hear you." To me this means that she was saying that why are you trying to talk to someone that can't hear or listen to you. If I was Darcy I would have confronted my little sister and said this is our grandma you should always try talking to her because she might feel lonley. Just because she can't hear you doesn't means that you shouldn't make her feel any less like she isn't in this world. I really wanted to punch her little sister for that. You shouldn't never say that about a elderly women or men for that fact.

The character Jamie shouldn't say things like that about her grandma for one if you talk bad about someone or something that same thing can happen to you just by u talking about them. So thats why you should never talk about someone behind their back even though their grandma can't really hear them sometimes just like Darcy said, "it's still nice to talk to her she can her you sometimes." then her sister commented back saying, "She's not." This means that probably has a lot going on or something she keeps disrespecting her own family like that. I mean come on she just had a stroke at least try and show her that you care. Jamie character in this book is just horrible.

Quater 4 Blog 5

At the end of this book as Celeste was going on to the 2nd round of modeling everybody was surprised that she had did her own makeup and it was flawless. But she didn't have enough time to talk they were on 10 minutes. Celeste is starting to realize she has came along way. Celeste came from being a overweight young girl to a young and slim Celeste. She tells the readers that, "As I went up each one, the beam from the spotlight grew stronger. When I reached the top, I dropped the side of the skirt and stepped out." This proves that Celeste was kind of nervous and this modeling stuff was meaning a lot to her I think she felt like she came a long way. "Some pf the other girls whispered and fetted over who would win. I stayed to the side, listening but caring only that I'd finished."That's was she said before they found who won.

My reflection on this book is that when I first started reading this book I thought that it was going to be about models eating cookies. But then I started to know the theme of the book when the girl Celeste was saying that her aunt was making her do it because the pageant was for over weight girls and she wanted her to do something about her weight. If i was her aunt I would of asked my niece if she wanted to do the pageant. I think it was kind of decent that she did it that way because at the end of the day her niece was proud of herself.

American Indian Response

Native Americans were marginalized in many ways. In the article it says, " By 1879, settlers and the U.S. Army had forced most tribes off their land "white man" diseases had devastated the native population. America's 250,000 remaining Native Americans were living on reservations, barely surviving on food and cast-off clothes provided by the U.S. government." This means that many of the Native Americans were marginalized and they weren't living right. Also it means that the "white man" clearly was trying to make the Native Americans Life easier.

Shanice Britton's essay, "Life on the Rez" its not what you think." Shanice describes her life on the Rez. She tells the readers about how her life isn't as different as people might think. She describes her wish to help American Indian tradition from disappearing because Indian tradition is very important to pass down like language sometimes used in her community. She tell the reader about her life in order to help the readers understand that they aren't that different and how she wants her community to prosper. In the passage it says, "The biggest thing for to get used to about college is that it's huge! There were only 25 people in my high school's graduating there are thousands in my freshman class at college. Its scary, but it's also exciting to be around people who value education. This means that Native Americans aren't that different from us they do the same things as us as in school and etc.

Blog 4 Book2

Now that I'm in the middle almost close to the ending of the book it has got so interesting. So Celeste was getting ready for her pageant and it was getting ready to go out on stage for her photo shoot. She was nervous but when she was done getting ready her mom said, "oh!" Celeste said, "I don't know what expression was on my face but it couldn't have been good. Christian rushed to my side."Christian is the man who dressed her to a totally different person. Meanwhile Celeste was nervous because she thought she looked horrible because of her mothers expression. So she kind of reflected off of the expression and made a bad expression about it to before she saw how she looked in the mirror. She couldn't stop looking at the mirror in fact when it was officially time to go take the pictures she didn't want to let the mirror go. Finally the lady that was taking the pictures was saying that she was doing good. I think it was to encourage her so she won't feel bad but the pictures probably did look great. After she left the pageant she went home and ran straight to her bed like her old self. But we don't know is that she was on a diet so that she could look good. Me personally I think she should just burned off the fat by going to the gym to get some sweat. Laying off the chips and candy, etc is also a hard thing to do that she did even though she didn't want to she knew it was best for her.

The theme of this story is that if you don't believe in yourself you will never accomplish anything. For example Celeste was telling her self, "Don't try to throw the contest anymore, I thought. Based on her expression, I had about the same chance of winning as Ben had of growing up without getting another bump or bruise." This means that she already feels that she didn't do good so she just said I don't have to try anymore if I already did bad from the beginning which isn't true. Her mom was telling her and Christian was saying your doing great. Thats the only reason her mom wants her to go for round two. This is Celeste's response to that, "But we agreed!"I protested. I'd met my obligation. What more did she want?". She was tired of doing pageants for Husky peach but she knew she couldn't say no to her mom so she had finish strong.

Blog 3 Book 2

In the beginning of this book "Models don't eat chocolate cookies,"  there is a girl who has low self-esteem and her aunt put her into this beauty pageant to make  her feel a little confident about her self because she is a plus size her girl. In the paragraph it says, "Aunt Doreen secretly entered me in this Miss HuskyPeach pageant for plus sized girls." So what she is saying is that their is a pageant for heavy set girls who doesn't seem to feel good about them selves. So she had to do it because she didn't want to let her aunt down. By the way her name is Celeste. Even though she didn't want to do this pageant she thought it wasn't so bad as if felt. Her mom said, "we needed to order an adult size because the youth sizes weren't cut for me." That right there what she said already made her feel like she wanted to hang her head up on something.  Sometimes the things people say they don't know that it might hurt someone else's feelings because they are so used to saying things like that.

The conflict of this book is that their is so many people who have low self-esteem because they are over weighed or something. In the story Celeste thinks, "what if i'm called "chubby" if you're nice, "fat." Sometimes I think heavy set people in general shouldn't care about what other people think about you because everyone in the world might criticize you in their own way. But that's just my opinion about who do the people out side think they are to judge you if they don't know you. What if that was you?, Would you care what people thought about you?

Schooled (Bluford Series) Blog 2

Now that its the end of the book and Lionel finally decided to talk to his dad about his problem in school. As he said, "I messed up dad. I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to know. I'm the dumbest kid in class." This proves that Lionel wasn't doing to good in school he couldn't take it no more so he fell the need to drop out. His father was telling him that its ok you don't have to be ashamed anymore. Now that he has let out his fear of telling his dad that he wasn't doing good in school. He doesn't have to feel ashamed. sometimes thats all you need is someone to comfort you to make you feel good about yourself.

The Genre of this book is Realistic fiction because the things that happen in the book are similar to the real world. In the book it says, " I never graduated from high school. Lionel turned so quick he hurt his rib cage. Dad said Yep its true. I got tired of people making fun of me and calling me slow." He said one day he just quit. This proves that all people make mistakes. That also proves that these things can happen in the real world. Even though I haven't gotten to high school yet I know that if something gets hard I'll keep trying until I make and effort of learning something. Because just because something gets hard doesn't mean you should just quite before actually trying.

Tolerance

 Tolerance
     noun
  1. 1. The ability or willingness
    to allow the existence,
    occurrence, or
    practice of something,
    in particular the
    existence of opinions or
    behavior that one does
    not necessarily agree
    with.

A way I can be Tolerance to people is hear them out in other words just listen to their opinion's. To me Tolerance means that you have patients to deal with someone and also put up with them on their not so good days. I can live a more Tolerant life by surrounding myself with positive attitude. There was this one time I was with my cousin's and they were talking about a heavy set women. I was kind of getting angry because just because he wasn't out of shaped didn't give him the right to talk about someone's health doing bad. So I brushed it off but I just don't like when people talk about other people in any kind of negative way. Because you're not perfect either and here you go talking about someone else like your the king or queen of someone.

Schooled Quarter 4 Post 1

In the beginning of this book they talk about how this boy named Lionel always dreamed that he might be in the NBA. But in order to make that dream come true he has to be focused in school. Lionel Doesn't really do good in school he also has trouble with this boy at this school named Rasheed. They both started arguing because Lionel didn't really know a lot about the class because he doesn't really like the reading class. So they started arguing the teacher tried to stop the argument so she said, "Thats enough." She just wanted to put Lionel on the spot so he could pay attention in class and get good grades so his dreams can come true. But he just doesn't get. Sometimes people won't get it until they actually fail.

My connection to this story is that When I was in school trough 3rd-4th grade I would like totally day dream about something else and the teacher would call my names and ask me question sometimes I would even say I don't know and he/she would move me to where I could understand and get away from the foolishness. Sometimes its not my fault that I go off in space i just tend to think about other stuff while I'm in class because The class might start to get boring. In the book Lionel says officer Hodden his coach was happy that he'd lifted Lionel up in the middle of the court and said,  "Your smart player, Lionel. Keep playin' Keep playing like that and you might have a future sport." This means that As long as you think you could succeed you will. So what I'm trying to say. That just because I might get off focus and think about something else I could tune right back in to what the teacher was saying.

Blog 8 Summer Of Secrets

In the middle of my book it is talking about how this girl names Brisana was going to the mall one day and she saw her ex Hakeem. But when she saw him he was with Darcy. But it all started when Darcy found out that her grandmother died, and she didn't have Hakeem to be there with her to go through this together so she mostly was disappointed, and sad because they had a big argument before Hakeem moved to Detroit with his family because of his dad's illness. In the meantime when school had started back Darcy had saw her old friends Tarah, and Cooper. They haven't saw each other in so long. In the article it says. "Omg Its been so long since we saw each other I missed you guys so much." This proves that Darcy and her friends haven't spent anytime together while during the summer. Though Hakeem had a secret of his own that Tarah, and Cooper knew but Darcy didn't. She was kind of lost cause even her own bestfriend couldn't tell her what was going on. She had to talk to Hakeem to get the information but every time she tried talking to him he was acting a little strange. He would walk away from her when they have eye contact.

The theme of this Book is that when you have been away from someone so long you start to see how they've changed. That's not a good thing because you want to change with them but if you spend no time trying to bond with them how are going to make a change. In the book is says that, "My dads cancer has stopped He's passed his physical, and he's getting a little stronger." This proves that even if you are really good friends a move to somewhere else can change how the other person is without you even knowing how they've changed. towards the end of the book Hakeem and Darcy start to make change together by talking again. Being there for each other like the good ol' days.

Book 3 Blog 7

In the beginning of my book "Summer Secrets Bluford Series" They are so far talking about how Darcy and her sister Jamie and her mother and father had lost their grandmother. She had died in her sleep. So for about 2 1/2 weeks their house was silence because they were all so depressed. But after those couple of weeks the house wasn't so depressed that much. It was an uncomfortable silence, Darcy and Jamie's mother and father have been arguing for the past week. Not back to back arguing but arguing every now and then over small things. Darcy is just worried about her parents but her sister Jamie just keeps telling her that their is nothing to worry about when there clearly is.

My connection to this story is I remember my mom all sad because my grandfather died and she was so depressed she could barely talk at all to anybody. t In the story Darcy says, "I watched my mom walk around daze, sometimes it seemed on the verge of tears." This proves that watched her mother walk around like she can't do anything. That's how it was with my mom when my grandaddy died they had a close bond. as time passed by she wouldn't eat. Then one day when she was sleep she felt a hand go on her shoulder. She knew it was my grandaddy, and he sat on the bed like if he was saying everything is going to be okay.

Post 6 Book 2 (If You're reading this)

Now that this is the ending of the book Michael's father had sent him a video before he died. In the video before Michael continued to play it Michael had saw a  calendar with red marker on it with the days crossed off. Michael said, " I paused the video and sat staring at him frozen on the screen. My heart hammered so heavy in my chest that I could hear and feel it up on my neck and ears." This proves that the video was made on the last day of his fathers life thats why there were red x's on the calendar so that he can count the days until his death. Michaels's father didn't know he was going to right after the video that he made but Michael did. Michael says, "How could I watch this video knowing, he was destined to die right after filming it? How could I not watch it?" This proves that His own dad didn't know know how many days he had left of his life.

My reflection on this story is, It was wonderful, sad story that was about Michael's father death but before he died he had sent his son a couple of letters and about 2 videos leading up to his death. It's pretty bad how Michael has to watch his dad on video on the last days of death even though his dad had know idea when his days were up. Even Michael's father said "I don't know how many days I have left." I wish the story didn't end with Michael having to watch his dad on video. If I was in his shoes I would have gone into a breakdown because It would be my first time going through that experience. Even if It was My mom that had died I wouldn't know what to do with my life because either you're father or your mom really mean something to you because you love them more than anybody else.

Post 5 Book 2

I'm counting to read my book "If you're reading this." closer to the conclusion of the book it is about how he is once again starting to get the letters from when Michaels dad was writing him letters before he died telling him things before he died. That's why the book is called If you're reading this. One of the letters said, "Dear Michael, I'm not supposed to be writing this right now because i'm on guard duty, roasting in the blazing heat in a cement room at the top of a two-story tower. My job is to stare at the empty, dead desert to make sure that it stays empty and dead. To do that we have to keep our eyes open and staring out the window. S writing letters is against the rules." This means that while Michael's father was supposed to be on guard duty protecting the cement he was writing to his son that he truly missed because he was away for most of his life. But in order to keep in touch was to write letter every now and then but now that Michael's father has died he just started getting these letters. Maybe the truck that sends the mail to people got pushed back or something. I'm guessing that his father died from all the heat and accumulation. I'll have to keep reading to find out.

The conflict of this story is that Before Michael's father even died he wouldn't have got the letters because he would still be writing them and trying to send them to Michael. In the book it stats that, "Reading books on guard duty is also against  the rules. We must be staring at nothing at all the time. It kind of drives me nuts. Anyways, that brings me to the first thing i guess i want to tell you. Always have a book going. Always take it with you." It clearly means that some good things can be bad in different situations. like if you're in the navy and you can't dress a certain way and you do behind the corperate's back. That's against the rules. So what Michael's dad is saying bad things aren't always good, and stay in school and read, and do what you have to do.

If you're reading this! 2nd book

In the beginning of the book "If you're reading this," It is about how this boy named Mike gets someone to notice him in football he wasn't expecting it to happen. But however the coach really wants him on the team. I know this because in the book it says, " Look i don't chase everybody down like. The rest of the guys have been bursting their butts for over a week in camp." This proves that the coach really wants Mike on his team but Mike doesn't really seem to get the concept on how he could change his years of being in high school he could finally get noticed in the school. In the story it says that, "You only have three more years to play football. Don't miss out on the best years of your life." This shows that This could really make a change on his years of going to high school and having a good time being a high schooler. Although before this he had a gotten this letter from his dad before he died. The letter arrived a few weak's before Mike's 16th birthday. In the letter it says, " If you're reading this, then I'm very sorry but I was killed in the war in Afghanistan." This tells the readers that Mike's father tried his best to still have a relationship with his son before he died. But unfortunately the letters came a bit late.

I have the same connection to Mike when I was in 5th grade I started out doing cheerleading in the middle of the year towards the end, and during 6th grade I was on 2 cheerleading teams. I decided to try something different so I decided to try being on the dance team. My story connects to his is because I decided to try something different just like he did. But instead his story is about football, the stories are similar because we both have sports involved. In the story it proves that 2 people from different countries or states can have the same mind set but in different things.

Final Blog for Non fiction Book!

The Tyra Banks didn't except to be in cameras forever. Tyra Banks has did her thing down the runways, Magazine cover, Advertisements, T.v shows. To this day she is so humble for who she has become. Because she knows that if she wouldn't have kept looking for people to hire her she wouldn't have been where she is today. So that says it all keep trying until you can't try no more. But of course your going to stop and try again through out your life. Tyra Banks has inspired many teen girls for the things she has down. She gives us a reason to be bold and independent.

Tyra Bank is known worldwide as being much more than a pretty, beautiful face model. She is a women that is all about about business. Through out the years of her t.v show she earned the amount of $23 million. She's definitely a hard working lady. Tyra banks has the mind of a genius she says, " i'm passionate about inspiring people to fulfill their own dreams and fantasies through entertainment that is engaging, uplifting, course of fun!." In that quote it clearly explains it all Tyra Banks is a angel sent from god. In so many words I am trying to say that she isn't a bad person she hopes for the best for anybody and everybody. Her personality is so down-to-earth.

Friday, January 23, 2015

Continuing my book "Tyra Banks." Later in the story as she matured, she began to notice a part  of her life. She began to see that what may have been important to her in grade school, as in being popular. Tyra was no longer popular anymore. Tyra was beginning to see that there was more to life than to be part of a "Crowd." In the text it says, " I want power. The power to make change. I have never been interested in being "hot" or "cool." Im not interested in walking down a bunch of red carpets, dating someone famous, being in a big movie. I've done those things , and never felt right.        During 1989 -1990, Tyra was 15 and 16 years old in high school. Her mother helped her put together her first portfolio of photographs. After that, that's when she started going around looking for modeling agencies. All though Tyra was turned down over, and over, and over, and over again. Even though the agencies loved Tyra Banks looks. Finally a well known agency did accept Tyra. Every since she started modeling to going on to big television screens.

So far this book is basically just saying that even though you get let down multiple times you have to try over and over again until something goes your way. That's why they say "Practice makes perfect." I know this because in the biography book of Tyra Banks it stats that, "A disappointing pattern quickly developed; Agencies turned Tyra down- again and again.""Finally, a well-known agency did accept Tyra-the prestigious Elite Model Management would represent her." This shows that Tyra was willing to wait on a call in-order to follow her dreams. In the book it says, " My first modeling job was for a magazine called "Black Collegiate",  I was so excited because there was little picture of me on the cover, above the tittle."
