Quater 4 Lost Found Blog 8!

At the end of the book as Darcy never took a day off without looking for her sister she kind of got a hint of what her sick grandma was saying. Her grandmother would say, "Did Jamee tell you about the nice time we had up on the mountains?" this question isn't really a question since Darcy's grandmother is sick she paid no attention to what she was saying Darcy thought she probably had a dream about it or something. But Darcy didn't know her grandmother was telling her thats where Darcy is. So after Darcy helped her grandma to the bathroom and back in bed she called her friend Tarah and told her, " Come to my house and watch grandma for me and tell Cooper to drive to the mountains." So she did just that and Darcy said the same to her father. Who would have thought Jamee might up in the mountains with just a T-shirt on and jeans. But trust me it was possible.

My reflection on this book is that you will learn your lesson if had put your feet in the characters shoes. So basically what I mean is when Darcy's little sister Jamee Ran away. As soon as they found her they took her into the small ER and Jamee told Darcy, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to disappoint you." This proves that she only ran away because she was just going up to the mountains because thats where she only felt safe at. Just like in grandmas dream she said the same thing but Darcy thought that since her grandmother was ill she probably just had a dream but the dream was really true. Since I've been reading all of the other Bluford Series I finally read the first one. and I actually think that now that I know what happens in the other books I'll read them again because I've already read the first. So it was kind of shocking to see that "Lost and Found" was the first book of the series.

Quater 4 post 7 Lost and Found

In the middle of this book as Darcy started her first week at Bluford High she met new friends as if she was lonely when she started school she then met her Bestfriends Tarah and Cooper. She realize she might have the best time of her life at this school because it isn't that bad just like she said, "you're riding with him." This means that Darcy's friend Brisanna doesn't like Darcy hanging out with the other kids because they are losers and thats how Brisanna and Darcy Stop being friends because of her new friends. Later on after this siutation Darcy's sister had told her mom that she was going to her friends house for a night when it turned out that she was running away. Darcy had said, " I rushed to Jamee's room. I was Locked so I found a spare key to unlock it. The room lookced the same, nothing unusual. BUt when Darcy checked the closet she found all Jamee's favorite clothing gone the T-shirts, jeans even her Cd's. Jamee had left nice dresses mom had bought her years ago." This proves that there is evidence that her sister could have ran away and darcy tried calling Jamee's friends mom house so see if she was there and her mom said, " I haven't saw your sister in 2 weeks."  Could this be real??

The conflict of this book is that Darcy sister has ran away and now she's tried everywhere to find her but she was yet to be found. Then when Tarah and Cooper was dropping off Darcy and Hakeem off to Darcy's, Darcy saw her father she was kind of dissapointed to see him because its kind of like his fault that Jamee's gone. The whole time Hakeem stood by her side he told Darcy, "Don't think that way we are going to find your sister." This proves that Hakeem was trying to show Darcy that he was here for her and that he wants to make her feel better. He even stayed by her side even when Darcy's father and Darcy were going somewhere to talk he was there. He even said, " You want me to wait outside? maybe there's something private you want to say to your father." He's a true friend. So again the main conflict of this book is Man vs Person. Because Darcy and their family where sad and depressed about their dad leaving them for 5 years and now he's trying to make it up but you can't make up five years with in one day.

Quater 4 Blog 6 Lost And Found

In the beginning of this book called "Lost and Found" theres a girl named Darcy and her grandmother just had a stroke so Darcy tries her best to help her out with anything she need. Darcy little sister Jamie is in the stage of having attitude like all teenagers have. But in the beginning as I was reading she seemed pretty mean to her own grandma. Because when Darcy was talking to their grandma Jamie said, "Its not like she can hear you." To me this means that she was saying that why are you trying to talk to someone that can't hear or listen to you. If I was Darcy I would have confronted my little sister and said this is our grandma you should always try talking to her because she might feel lonley. Just because she can't hear you doesn't means that you shouldn't make her feel any less like she isn't in this world. I really wanted to punch her little sister for that. You shouldn't never say that about a elderly women or men for that fact.

The character Jamie shouldn't say things like that about her grandma for one if you talk bad about someone or something that same thing can happen to you just by u talking about them. So thats why you should never talk about someone behind their back even though their grandma can't really hear them sometimes just like Darcy said, "it's still nice to talk to her she can her you sometimes." then her sister commented back saying, "She's not." This means that probably has a lot going on or something she keeps disrespecting her own family like that. I mean come on she just had a stroke at least try and show her that you care. Jamie character in this book is just horrible.

Quater 4 Blog 5

At the end of this book as Celeste was going on to the 2nd round of modeling everybody was surprised that she had did her own makeup and it was flawless. But she didn't have enough time to talk they were on 10 minutes. Celeste is starting to realize she has came along way. Celeste came from being a overweight young girl to a young and slim Celeste. She tells the readers that, "As I went up each one, the beam from the spotlight grew stronger. When I reached the top, I dropped the side of the skirt and stepped out." This proves that Celeste was kind of nervous and this modeling stuff was meaning a lot to her I think she felt like she came a long way. "Some pf the other girls whispered and fetted over who would win. I stayed to the side, listening but caring only that I'd finished."That's was she said before they found who won.

My reflection on this book is that when I first started reading this book I thought that it was going to be about models eating cookies. But then I started to know the theme of the book when the girl Celeste was saying that her aunt was making her do it because the pageant was for over weight girls and she wanted her to do something about her weight. If i was her aunt I would of asked my niece if she wanted to do the pageant. I think it was kind of decent that she did it that way because at the end of the day her niece was proud of herself.

American Indian Response

Native Americans were marginalized in many ways. In the article it says, " By 1879, settlers and the U.S. Army had forced most tribes off their land "white man" diseases had devastated the native population. America's 250,000 remaining Native Americans were living on reservations, barely surviving on food and cast-off clothes provided by the U.S. government." This means that many of the Native Americans were marginalized and they weren't living right. Also it means that the "white man" clearly was trying to make the Native Americans Life easier.

Shanice Britton's essay, "Life on the Rez" its not what you think." Shanice describes her life on the Rez. She tells the readers about how her life isn't as different as people might think. She describes her wish to help American Indian tradition from disappearing because Indian tradition is very important to pass down like language sometimes used in her community. She tell the reader about her life in order to help the readers understand that they aren't that different and how she wants her community to prosper. In the passage it says, "The biggest thing for to get used to about college is that it's huge! There were only 25 people in my high school's graduating there are thousands in my freshman class at college. Its scary, but it's also exciting to be around people who value education. This means that Native Americans aren't that different from us they do the same things as us as in school and etc.

Blog 4 Book2

Now that I'm in the middle almost close to the ending of the book it has got so interesting. So Celeste was getting ready for her pageant and it was getting ready to go out on stage for her photo shoot. She was nervous but when she was done getting ready her mom said, "oh!" Celeste said, "I don't know what expression was on my face but it couldn't have been good. Christian rushed to my side."Christian is the man who dressed her to a totally different person. Meanwhile Celeste was nervous because she thought she looked horrible because of her mothers expression. So she kind of reflected off of the expression and made a bad expression about it to before she saw how she looked in the mirror. She couldn't stop looking at the mirror in fact when it was officially time to go take the pictures she didn't want to let the mirror go. Finally the lady that was taking the pictures was saying that she was doing good. I think it was to encourage her so she won't feel bad but the pictures probably did look great. After she left the pageant she went home and ran straight to her bed like her old self. But we don't know is that she was on a diet so that she could look good. Me personally I think she should just burned off the fat by going to the gym to get some sweat. Laying off the chips and candy, etc is also a hard thing to do that she did even though she didn't want to she knew it was best for her.

The theme of this story is that if you don't believe in yourself you will never accomplish anything. For example Celeste was telling her self, "Don't try to throw the contest anymore, I thought. Based on her expression, I had about the same chance of winning as Ben had of growing up without getting another bump or bruise." This means that she already feels that she didn't do good so she just said I don't have to try anymore if I already did bad from the beginning which isn't true. Her mom was telling her and Christian was saying your doing great. Thats the only reason her mom wants her to go for round two. This is Celeste's response to that, "But we agreed!"I protested. I'd met my obligation. What more did she want?". She was tired of doing pageants for Husky peach but she knew she couldn't say no to her mom so she had finish strong.

Blog 3 Book 2

In the beginning of this book "Models don't eat chocolate cookies,"  there is a girl who has low self-esteem and her aunt put her into this beauty pageant to make  her feel a little confident about her self because she is a plus size her girl. In the paragraph it says, "Aunt Doreen secretly entered me in this Miss HuskyPeach pageant for plus sized girls." So what she is saying is that their is a pageant for heavy set girls who doesn't seem to feel good about them selves. So she had to do it because she didn't want to let her aunt down. By the way her name is Celeste. Even though she didn't want to do this pageant she thought it wasn't so bad as if felt. Her mom said, "we needed to order an adult size because the youth sizes weren't cut for me." That right there what she said already made her feel like she wanted to hang her head up on something.  Sometimes the things people say they don't know that it might hurt someone else's feelings because they are so used to saying things like that.

The conflict of this book is that their is so many people who have low self-esteem because they are over weighed or something. In the story Celeste thinks, "what if i'm called "chubby" if you're nice, "fat." Sometimes I think heavy set people in general shouldn't care about what other people think about you because everyone in the world might criticize you in their own way. But that's just my opinion about who do the people out side think they are to judge you if they don't know you. What if that was you?, Would you care what people thought about you?
